Saturday morning was beautiful here in sunny Uxbridge, as it has been for weeks now.Cold but clear blue skies.Just right for walking.....but that not what I did..Im rambling.
I have a polish uncle, by marriage to my Dads sister who was to be 94, yes, 94 on Sunday so I decided I should go and pay him a visit. He only lives 10 minutes away with my Aunt who is herself 84. My youngest and I went over , bearing a bottle of courvoisier.
I couldnt get one card for 94 so I decided to have a joke with him and get him 4 cards all of which added up to 94. Two had badges also, one for Darth Vader which read "obey your master" and one with a pic of bob the builder on it .(he was a carpenter by trade.)
I thought the Darth Vader was particularly appropriate because my Auntie Elsie is bossy and he could simply point at the badge.
Well, you would have thought Id given him and her a million pounds1 They thought it was SO funny and forced popcorn and brandy onto us (well, I had the brandy, Nick had the popcorn.)
He really is amazing for his age.Still gos out, with his stick, walks round to his doctor or to the shops. His mind is good , watches the news daily and reads avidly.Just his hearing going which annoys Auntie Elsie.
So, enough said, I will visit more regularly but if my Uncle Alec is anything to go by, I reckon we should encourage much interbreeding between us Anglo saxons and our Polish friends. We've got the opportunity right now, having so many immigrants.
Their gene pool is clearly superior to ours after all.
